NHPC forms JV with JKSPDCL for 850 MW Ratle HEP in Jammu and Kashmir

NHPC Limited has formed a joint venture (JV) called Ratle Hydroelectric Power Corportaion Limited with Jammu and Kashmir State Power Development Corporation Limited (JKSPDCL) for the development of Ratle Hydroelectric Project (HEP) in Jammu and Kashmir.

The 850 MW project is a run-of-river scheme located on the Chenab River in Kishtwar district of the union territory of Jammu and Kashmir. NHPC will hold 51 per cent stake in the JV and JKSPDCL holds the remaining. The cabinet has approved the strategic project in January2021 at a cost of Rs 52.82 billion.
