UNGC recognises ReNew Power’s CMD as an SDG Pioneer

The United Nations Global Compact (UNGC) has recognised Sumant Sinha, chairman and managing director, ReNew Power, as one of ten 2021 SDG Pioneers. SDG Pioneers are business leaders who have done exceptional work in helping achieve Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through the implementation of UNGC’s 10 principles on human rights, environment, labour and anti-corruption. Over the past 10 years, ReNew Power, under Sinha’s leadership, has demonstrated excellence in integrating SDGs into the company’s core business. The company has aligned its operations with the objectives of Agenda 2030 and has forged partnerships for achieving various SDGs beyond just SDG 7. In a separate development, ReNew Power has announced its new affiliate relationship with the Precourt Institute for Energy at Stanford University and its StorageX Initiative. StorageX is an academic-industry-government initiative that aims to solve the most pressing real-world challenges in battery storage. The collaboration will focus initially on the challenges surrounding grid-level battery usage and performance in India and ultimately on driving stable and firm power delivery to the grid.
