Mitsubishi announces investment in 600 MW wind farm in Laos

Japan based Mitsubishi Corporation has announced a major investment in developing southeast Asia’s largest onshore wind farm in Laos.

The 600 MW onshore project will be located in Sekong and Attapeu provinces of Laos. The wind farm will be developed through a subsidiary of Mitsubishi, Diamond Generating Asia Limited in Hong Kong, together with Impact Electrons Siam Company Limited in Thailand. Power from the project will be sold under a 25-year agreement to the state-owned electric power company, Vietnam Electricity. Currently, the 83.2 MW Bac Lieu Phase II project is the largest operating wind farm in Vietnam. The largest wind farm currently under construction is the 142 MW Bac Lieu Phase III, an offshore farm with 71 wind turbines.
