Operations would remain shut for four days and there have been unscheduled power cuts imposed for two days, which will lead to industry incurring a huge loss. Further, other industries needing continuous supply have been mandated to use 50 per cent of the sanctioned/contracted load, from July 8 to July 18, 2021. This order was issued by Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL) for extending the power restrictions on the large-scale industry, using over 100 kW load, in central, north and west zones. Punjab is facing a power crisis in the ongoing paddy season when the demand of power is highest, aggravating the crisis in the state, two 660 MW units of Talwandi Sabo power plants have shut down due to technical issues.
