NTPC to build India’s largest solar park in the Rann of Kutch

NTPC Limited’s green subsidiary, NTPC Renewable Energy, has received approval from the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) to set up a 4,750 MW solarpark in the Rann of Kutch in Khavada, Gujarat.

This will be India’s largest solar park. NTPC also plans to generate green hydrogen on a commercial scale from the electricity generated by the solar panels to be installed there. The solar park will be developed under ‘Mode 8’ of the ultra-mega RE power park scheme, wherein state governments will assist in the identification and acquisition of land and facilitate statutory clearances. Currently, NTPC’s has 1,400 MW installed capacity of RE capacity and it intends to increase it to60,000 MW by 2032.
