Government to float 4,000 MWh battery storage tenders

The central government plans to float tenders for sourcing 4,000 MWh battery storage systems.

The storage systems are expected to provide ancillary services to four regional load dispatch centers (RLDCs) (1,000 MWh of storage each) to help during sharp fluctuations because of renewables. Part of it will work as ancillary to the grid controller and part will be made available to the developers for use on a commercial basis.
