NTPC Vidyut Vyapar Nigam Limited has invited online bids on a two-stage bidding basis for the EPC package of waste to energy facility at Ramna, Varanasi.
A waste to energy plant with waste segregation facility of 600 TPD fresh municipal solid waste (MSW) will be installed as part of the tender. The bid commenced on June 22, 2021 and will conclude on July 27, 2021. The complete plant should be compliant to applicable emission norms. The facility is expected to be commissioned by September 30, 2022. NTPC has also installed a demo/pilot torrefaction plant at Dadri Stage -1 which uses agriculture residue/MSW as feedstock. This plant deploys “torrefaction” process where MSW is heated in absence of oxygen. The plant which was commissioned in March 2020 presently produces charcoal with a GCV in the range of 4,000-5,000 kcal/kg.
