NTPC to start commercial operations at second Nabinagar unit

NTPC Limited is set to start the commercial operation of second 660 MW unit of the Nabinagar Super Thermal Power Project (STPP) in Bihar.

The project is being executed by Nabinagar Power Generating Company Limited (NPGCL) a joint venture of NTPC and Bihar State Power Generation Company Limited. The trial operation of this unit was successfully conducted in March 2021. The unit will supply electricity to the beneficiary states, such as Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Jharkhand and Sikkim. Bihar will get 84.8 per cent or 559MW of the electricity to be generated from the Nabinagar STPP and the rest will be allocated to Uttar Pradesh, Jharkhand and Sikkim.
