Sub-Saharan Africa focused independent power producer (IPP),Sturdee Energy has signed two power purchase agreements (PPAs) with the Botswana Power Corporation (BPC) for two solar power projects in Botswana.
The two projects will be the first two renewable energy (RE) IPP projects in Botswana. The projects will have installed capacities of 3 MW and 1 MW and will be located in Bobonong and Shakawe respectively. The projects entail an investment of about $5.5 million. As per PPAs, Sturdee Energy will sell clean energy to BPC for 25 years, and the projects are expected to generate over 10,000 MWh in their first year of operation.
