APTEL orders TANGEDCO to pay dues to RE gencos

The Appellate Tribunal for Electricity (APTEL) has ordered the Tamil Nadu Generation and Distribution Corporation to pay its dues for curtailing the power generation.

The order states that Tamil Nadu Electricity Regulatory Commission (TNERC) has to pay 75 per cent of the total curtailed power to these companies, along with a 9 per cent interest between March 2017 to October 2020. This could lead to a payout of billions of rupees to solar and wind companies generating power in the state such as Adani Green, Tata Power, Shapoorji Pallonji, and Greenko Group. This practice will continue for any future curtailments as well. The payments for March 2017 to June 2017 should be made in the next 60 days.
