Delhi government to create 600 MW network of power banks around Delhi

The Delhi government has planned to create a 600 MW network of power banks around Delhi on the lines of the 10 MW Battery Energy Storage System set upby Tata Power Delhi Distribution Limited (TPDDL) plant in Rohini.

The system of energy storage will be designed such that it can be charged during off-peak power demand hours and the energy which is stored can be utilised during peak demand hours. This will stabilise the grid against fluctuations. The system could be charged with renewable energy sources. The Rohini facility entailed an investment of around Rs 550 million, but the government is looking to reduce costs of future systems by innovating further
