GUVNL to procure 3,000 MW thermal power on long-term basis

Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam Limited (GUVNL) plans to procure 3,000MW electricity from thermal power plants on long-term basis through competitive bidding process.

According to GUVNL, the power will be sourced from existing and new thermal power plants built on design, build, finance, own and operate basis. These facilities would utilise coal allotted under the Union government’s Shakti (Scheme for Harnessing and Allocating Koyala Transparently in India) policy to generate electricity. The power supply contract will be for a period of 15 years. GUVNL has also floated draft bid documents for the procurement of power and has sought views and comments from the interested stakeholders.
