HPCL to set up 5,000 EV charging stations in three years

Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL) plans to build 5,000 electric vehicle (EV) charging stations in three years to boost wider adoption of EVs in the country.

HPCL plans to leverage its 19,000 fuel retail outlets spread country-wide and most of the planned 5,000 EV charging stations would be built in these outlets. High-traffic routes like Bombay-Pune and Delhi-Chandigarh which connect high EV potential cities will be among the focus areas. In the past few years, HPCL has piloted charging stations and battery-swapping facilities and entered into multiple partnerships to prepare for a larger rollout of EV charging stations. It currently has about 85 EV charging stations added to operational petrol pumps.
