Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL) plans to build 5,000 electric vehicle (EV) charging stations in three years to boost wider adoption of EVs in the country. …
HPCL plans to leverage its 19,000 fuel retail outlets spread country-wide and most of the planned 5,000 EV charging stations would be built in these outlets. High-traffic routes like Bombay-Pune and Delhi-Chandigarh which connect high EV potential cities will be among the focus areas. In the past few years, HPCL has piloted charging stations and battery-swapping facilities and entered into multiple partnerships to prepare for a larger rollout of EV charging stations. It currently has about 85 EV charging stations added to operational petrol pumps.
