Sterling and Wilson Solar commissions 66MWp plant in Jordan

Sterling and Wilson Solar has commissioned the 66 MWp Al Husainiyah solar power plant in Jordan.

The project will save about 50,000 tonnes of CO2 per year, decreasing Jordan’s reliance on fossil fuels and opening up large-scale solar potential. Jordan’s economic development will be aided by the project, which would lessen the country’s reliance on expensive hydrocarbon imports for electricity generation. The project, which spanned 1.3 square kilometres in Ma’an Governorate, 200 kilometres south of Amman, was completed during the pandemic.
