Centre to offer Rs 413.69 billion worth of transmission projects under GEC plan

The central government has planned to offer 44 new transmission projects worth Rs 413.69 billion under the Green Energy Corridors (GEC) programme.

These projects would evacuate about 38 GW of renewable energy (RE) from western and northern parts. The project tenders are expected to see participation from several private players. The National Committee of Transmission has approved these projects to be offered under the tariff-based competitive bidding. The projects are a part of the central government’s flagship programme of GEC which aims at connecting RE zones (REZ) with the national grid. The major projects include Rajasthan REZ, Gujarat (Khavda), system strengthening in north, system strengthening in south, Gujarat (Dholera), Rajasthan (Neemuch), and Bhatapara augmentation.
