Nepal to invest NPR365 billion in electricity infrastructure by 2025

The state-owned power utility Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) plans to invest NPR365 billion in the construction of infrastructure related to electricity supply in the next four years.

This investment will go towards megaprojects, including the construction of 220 kV and 400 kV high voltage transmission lines. Hydropower projects, subsidiary companies, and electricity distribution system reform are among the other framework plans in which the utility monopoly will inject its earmarked funds. NEA has earmarked investments worth NPR102 billion for fiscal year (FY) 2021-22 (July 2021 to July 2022); NPR86.6 billion for FY2022- 23; NPR88.4 billion for FY2023-24 and NPR87.04 for FY2024-25.
