IEX and PXIL to resume trading of RECs

The India Energy Exchange (IEX) and Power Exchange of India Limited (PXIL) willresume trading of renewable energy certificates (RECs) from November 24, 2021.

The exchanges have resumed this trade after a gap of about 16 months. REC tradingwassuspended in July 2020 after the Appellate Tribunal for Electricity (APTEL) decided to postpone the trading by four weeks while hearing petitions by the Central Electricity Regulatory Commission (CERC). The trade has been resumed in line with APTEL’s recent order dated November 9, 2021 and CERC order dated November 18, 2021. (Central sector)
