Andritz to supply equipment for the new Lower Kopili HEP

ANDRITZ has received an order from Assam Power Generation Corporation Limited (APGCL) to supply the complete electro-mechanical equipment for the 120 MW Lower Kopili Hydroelectric Plant (HEP) located on the Kopili river in central Assam.

The scope of the contract includes plant design and engineering, manufacture, supply, erection, testing, and commissioning of the equipment including all five turbine-generator units. As the river has a very high acid content at the location of the plant, most underwater parts will be made of stainless steel. On completion, the Lower Kopili HEP will provide 456 GWh of electricity per year. The entire work will be conducted by ANDRITZ’s Indian subsidiary in Mandideep (near Bhopal) and Prithla (near Faridabad).
