The Electricity of Vietnam (EVN) and the Power Project Management Board has started construction on the 220kV transmission line of Nam Mo (Laos) – Tuong Duong (Vietnam).
This is a double circuit transmission line between the Vietnam – Laos border to the 220 kV Tuong Duong substation. The line is proposed to be 74.4 km in length and will be developed with a total investment of VND588 billion from EVN. EVN has also appointed the Power Project Management Board 1 to administer the project and offer oversight consulting. This line will transport imported electricity from the Nam Mo Hydropower Plant Cluster in Laos to Vietnam. The project is expected to support energy development cooperation between the two countries, under which Vietnam will import around 3,000 MW of power from Laos by 2025, increasing to 5,000MW by 2030. The project is expected to be completed in nine months and placed into service in August 2022, synchronized with the Nam Mo Hydropower Plant’s project cluster.
