Solar Energy Corporation of India Limited (SECI) has planned to set up a floating solar power plant of 40 MW capacity at the Hirakud Dam Reservoir in Sambalpur district of Odisha.
Floating panels, mounted on a structure that floats on a waterbody, will be installed to generate power. The floating panels will also cover the water and help in reducing the evaporation loss of the reservoir. Around Rs 2 billion will be spent to set up the plant.
