Thyssenkrupp to install over 2 GW electrolysis plant for Air Products in Saudi Arabia

Air Products has awarded thyssenkrupp Uhde Chlorine Engineers a contract to supply more than two 2 GW electrolysis plant for one of the world’s largest green hydrogen projects at NEOM in Saudi Arabia.

The facility will be designed, procured, and built by thyssenkrupp using their large-scale 20 MW alkaline water electrolysis module. After commissioning, the project partners NEOM, ACWA Power, and Air Products will run the facility, which will produce hydrogen that will be synthesised into carbon-free ammonia for export to worldwide markets exclusively by Air Products. Engineering and procurement efforts have begun, and manufacturing is expected to begin in 2026.
