The first pouring of concrete for building theunit 6 of Kudankulam Nuclear Power Plant (NPP) has beenlaid on December 20, 2021.
It is the last of the six reactors of 1,000 MW capacity each, being built by Nuclear Power Corporation of India Limited (NPCIL), in collaboration with Russia. The first two power units are operating at the nominal power level, works are underway at unit-3 to prepare for installation of the reactor pressure vessel.The construction of unit 5 began in June 2021.
