The Prime Minister has laid foundation stone of the Lakhwar multi-purpose project worth Rs 57.47 billion in Uttarakhand.
The Lakhwar multi-purpose project is located on River Yamuna in Dehradun and Tehri districts of Uttarakhand and to be developed by Uttarakhand Jal Vidyut Nigam Limited. The Lakhwar multi-purpose project will produce 300 MW of electricity. The 330 million cubic metres water in its reservoir will supply irrigation and drinking water to the six states of Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan and Delhi.
