BMC to procure power from hybrid solar power plant in Maharashtra

The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to purchase power from a proposed hybrid solar power plant at Balasaheb Thackeray Middle Vaitarna Dam in Maharashtra.

Under the project, 100 MW of electricity will be generated. The hydroelectric power plant will have a capacity of 20 MW and the floating solar photovoltaic (PV) power plant will have a capacity of 80 MW.The MoU was signed between the BMC and Vaitarna Solar Hydro Power Genco Private Limited. BMC will purchase electricity at the rate of Rs 5.30 per kW for the next 25 years.
