Investment by power PSUs to rise 5 per cent to Rs 514.7 billion

The union budget has proposed a total investment of Rs 514.70 billion for 2022-23 by state-owned public sector utilities (PSU) under the Ministry of Power, an increase of 5 per cent over the revised estimate of Rs 490.06 billion for 2021-22. .

SJVN Limited has witnessed the highest increase at Rs 80 billion in 2022-23, from the budgeted as well as revised estimate of Rs 50 billion in 2021-22.The investment by NHPC Limited has also been increased to Rs 73.6 billionfrom Rs 67.72 billion during the previous year. For Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (Powergrid), the investment for 2022-23 has been kept flat at Rs 75 billion while for Damodar Valley Corporation (DVC), the investment has been pegged at Rs 20.1 billion for 2022-23. For NTPC Limited, investments for 2022-23 have been reduced to Rs 224.5 billion from budgeted as well as revised estimates of Rs 237.4 billion in 2021-22. The North Eastern Electric Power Corporation (NEEPCO) will invest Rs 9 billion in 2022-23.
