CERC issues draft Terms and Conditions for Renewable Energy Certificates for Renewable Energy Generation Regulations, 2022

The Central Electricity Regulatory Commission (CERC) has issued the draft CERC (Terms and Conditions for Renewable Energy Certificates for Renewable Energy Generation) Regulations, 2022.

The CERC has made the regulations for the development of market in power from renewable energy sources through renewable energy certificates. As per the draft, renewable energy generating station, captive generating station based on renewable energy sources, distribution licensee, and open access consumer will be eligible for issuance of certificates. The process involves accreditation and registration for certificates and issuance, exchange and redemption of certificates.Certificate multiplier based on RE technologies has been introduced. The commission has invited comments/suggestions/objections by March 15, 2022.
