UAE’s SEWA to invest AED925 million on T&D projects in 2022

United Arab Emirates’Sharjah Electricity, Water and Gas Authority (SEWA) plans to invest AED925 million for the development of energy transmission and distribution (T&D) projects in 2022.

The plan includes the implementation of two power transmission stations with voltage of 220 kV, one 132 kV stations, and 11 stations of 33 kV, in addition to a number of projects for improving and developing networks and upgrading stations. The plan has been prepared according to a comprehensive study of networks in all regions in Sharjah. Some of the projects to be undertaken during the year include connecting the network to the Madame area; modifying transmission lines for university stations and Industrial Area B, replacing cables for stations at Nasiriyah, Sports Center, Industrial Zones 7A and 7B; installing 33 units of neutral grounding resistors; replacing 11 kV operating switches; installing a 100 MVAr reactor; and rehabilitating the electrical switches of the 132 kV Al-Nasiriya station.
