NTPC mulling setting $2 benchmark cost for green hydrogen productionby 2025-26

NTPC Limited is considering setting a $2 benchmark cost for green hydrogen production by 2025-26.

To make that happen, the cost of electrolysers and power is important. The green hydrogen is slated to play a very important role in India’s energy transition, along with solar power. In order to bring down the cost of green hydrogen production to $2, power tariff will have to be lower than Rs 2.On decarbonisation front, NTPC has started a pilot of capturing carbon dioxide and using it along with green hydrogen to make green methanol.
