CIAL to commission 12 MWp solar power plant

The Cochin International Airport Limited (CIAL) is all set to commission its new 12 MW capacity solar power plant at Payyanur, Kerala.

CIAL has set this solar power plant through terrain based installation process where the geographical characteristics of the area are retained, and no changes are made in the gradient of the land. As a result, the total land area required for solar photovoltaic installation is reduced to 2.75 acre per MW as compared to 3.75 acre per MW in flat land. With the commissioning of the Payyanur plant, the cumulative installed capacity of CIAL solar plants has gone up to 50 MWp. They include seven plants on the premises of the airport and a solar carport.
