Bihar government to introduce EVPolicy

The Government of Bihar is preparing to introduce its own Electric Vehicle (EV) Policy to promote EVs in the stateand establish charging stations through public-private partnerships (PPP).

Under the policy, charging stations will be set up at bus depots and at fuelling stations under the PPP model. The government would promote the use of EVs equipped with green technology under the EVPolicy by offering a 50 per cent reduction in road tax. Patna currently has 25 e-buses and over 12,000 e-rickshaws. The transport department plans to purchase 25 additional e-buses during the 2022-2023. Charging stations will be constructed at the proposed Patli bus terminus in Bihta’sMaujaKanhauli area and Patliputra Bus Terminal. Currently, a charging station with a capacity of 1,200 kWhas been installed at the upcoming Transport Complex in Phulwarisharif.
