L&T dispatches 700 MWe steam generator to GHAVP

The heavy engineering arm of Larsen & Toubro (L&T) has dispatched the fourth steam generator for Nuclear Power Corporation of India Limited’s (NPCIL) indigenously designed 700 MWe pressurised heavy water reactors (PHWR).

Steam generators are heat exchangers which convert water into steam using the heat produced in a nuclear reactor core. It acts as a boundary between radiated and outside environment in a PHWR.The PHWR will be set up at Gorakhpur Haryana Anu Vidyut Pariyojana (GHAVP) in Fatehabad district of Haryana. The entire order was completed six months ahead of schedulecreating a global benchmark in the nuclear manufacturing industry despite the COVID-19 pandemic.
