India and Sri Lanka sign agreement to build solar power plant in Sri Lanka

India and Sri Lanka have signed an agreement to develop a 100 MW solar power plant at eastern port district of Trincomalee, Sri Lanka.

The Joint Venture and Shareholders’ Agreement (JVSHA) for the Trincomalee Power  Company Limited (TPCL), a joint venture between NTPC Limited from India and the Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) from Sri Lanka, for developing the 100 MWsolar power plant at Sampur has been signed.With this project development, the significant interest among the private sector on both sides for cooperation in renewable energy is likely to increase in the coming years.
