Arunachal governmentterminates agreements with 44 private power developers

The Arunachal Pradesh government has terminated 44 agreements with private powerdevelopers as they were not inclined to execute projects

The state government had inked 153 memoranda of agreements (MoAs) with various central public sector undertakings (CPSUs) and independent power producers (IPPs) for hydropower projects with a combined capacity of 46,943 MW. Despite serving several notices to private developers concerned, they were not inclined to execute the projects, for which, 44 MoAs have been terminated.The government hasofferedthese terminated projects to CPSU, considering their performance and reliability. Of the terminated projects, the government recently handed over the 120 MW Nafra and the 90 MW New Mellling projects to North Eastern Electric Power Corporation Limited, and the 420 MW Amulin, 500 MW Emini and 400 MW Mihundon projects toSJVN Limited.
