SDMC’s second WtE plant to be ready by September 2022

South Delhi Municipal Corporation (SDMC) expects tocomplete its second waste-to-energy (WtE) plant and Delhi’s first engineered landfill site at Tehkhand by September 2022 and March 2023, respectively.

The department of environment management services has envisaged a year-long plan for establishing facilities one by one to manage waste and stop dumping at landfills. SDMC collects 3,600 tonnes of waste every day of which 1,600tonnes go to the first WtE plant at Okhla, a portion at the composting plant, and remaining at the landfill.The first WtE plant generates 21 MW of power.The secondWtE plant will have a capacity of 2,000 TPD and will generate 25 MW power.
