MoP notifies methodologyfor allocation of coal as per provisions of SHAKTI policy amended as per HLEC recommendations

The Ministry of Power (MoP) has notifiedmethodologyprepared in consultation with Ministry of Coal for allocation of coal to power plants for short term use as per the provisions of Para B(viii) (a) covering Para B(iii) ofSHAKTI policy.

As per the methodology, auction of coal linkages shall be carried out under three separate windows for delivery period of three, six and 12 months. All power plants which do not have power purchase agreements will be allowed to participate for auction of coal linkage for short term period (upto one year). The power generated through the coal linkage will be sold in day ahead market through power exchanges and in short term through a transparent bidding process as per the guidelines issued by MoP through discovery of efficient energy price (DEEP) portal.
