A memorandum of understanding (MoU) has been signed between Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) and Industrial Promotion and Investment Corporation of Odisha Limited (IPICOL) for five years to explore the feasibilities of setting up green energy projects in the state of Odisha.
The MoU envisages exploring feasibility of setting up hydrogen production plants both for domestic use and export. Green hydrogen would help in reducing aggregate greenhouse emissions. It would also help Odisha-based heavy industries to supplement their non-fossil power requirement. BPCL targets to build a renewable energy production capacity of 10 GW comprising a mix of solar, wind, small hydro and biomass by 2040.
