CEPCO energises 132 kV aluminum conductor cable circuit

The Saudi Arabian Civil and Electrical Projects Contracting Company (CEPCO) has successfully completed the design, supply installation, testing and commissioning of 132 kV underground cable circuit, with aluminum (Al) conductor, the first of kind in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) network.

The project consists of three single-core, 2,000 sq. mm, cross-linked polyethylene (XLPE) Al cables with metallic shield copper wire and copper tape laid between Substation 8288 and the existing Substation 8179, complete with all required link boxes, sheath voltage limiters (SVL), joints, gas insulated switchgear termination, and other accessories over a length of 4.7 km under the project. Connection of Substation 8288 with 132 kV network will also be carried out in the Al-Nadheem Area. The required 132 kV cable was supplied by Jeddah Cables Company, KSA and cable accessories by Pfisterer, Switzerland.
