CIL’s capital expenditure grows 12 per cent to Rs 148.34 billion during 2021-22

Coal India Limited (CIL) has registered acapital expenditure growth of 12 per cent from Rs 132.84 billion during 2020-21 to Rs 148.34 billion during 2021-22.

The entire capital expenditure of CIL was met through internal accruals.Most of the company’s capital expenditure was spread on land, procurement of heavy earth moving machinery (HEMM), setting up coal handling plant, silos and creation of rail infrastructure for coal transportation.Land and HEMM combined accounted for 40 per cent of the total capital expenditure at Rs 58.67 billion.The capital expenditure under land was Rs 32.62 billion in 2021-22, while the centralised procurement of HEMM for CIL subsidiaries – Eastern Coalfields Limited, Northern Coalfields Limited and South Eastern Coalfields Limited amounted to Rs 26.05 billion.Meanwhile, Rs 23.22 billion was spent for setting upcoal handling plants/silos and Rs 23.07 billion was spent on strengthening of evacuation infrastructure through rail sidings and corridors.
