Saudi’s SEC awards 380 kV Jillah–Layla OHTL to NCC

The Saudi Electricity Company (SEC) has awarded the construction of a 282-km, 380 kV double-circuit overhead transmission line (OHTL) between Jillah and Layla to Saudi-based construction firm, National Contracting Company (NCC).

The USD111.3 million contract involves the design and construction of 380 kV OHTL to connect the Jillah bulk supply point (BSP) and Layla BSP in the central region of Saudi Arabia. The project also involves using a 4-795 kcmil aluminum clad steel reinforced/aluminium wires (ACSR/AW CONDOR) conductor per phase and two optical ground wires (OPGW) along the new line’s length. The contractor shall perform, on a lump sum turnkey basis, the design, engineering, materials procurement, quality management, factory inspection/testing, transport and delivery to site, installation, construction, site inspection, testing, and commissioning, as well as all associated work and services, until the final handover of new OHTL work in a satisfactory working and operating condition. The contractor needs to complete the project activities within 25 months from the date of contract award.
