Sterlite Power acquires stake in MTCIL for OPGW fiber network in Maharashtra

Sterlite Power has acquired 64.98 per cent equity stake in Maharashtra Transmission Communication Infrastructure Limited (MTCIL), a joint venture between Sterlite Technologies Limited (STL) and Maharashtra State Electricity Transmission Company Limited (MSETCL).

MTCIL is a public private partnership for optical ground wire (OPGW) fiber networks operating on a build, own, operate and maintain (BOOM)model. MTCIL operates a fiber network of ~3,162 kms across 35 co-locations, serving telcos, internet service provider (ISP) and data centers, in the state of Maharashtra. Sterlite Power has acquired this equity stake from STL.OPGW fiber networks offer a reliable data delivery solution and will help leverage the existing power utility infrastructure for telecommunications purposes.
