Manila Electric Company (Meralco) has announced plans to auction around 1,100 MW of electricity in the Philippines to meet its baseload and mid-merit power requirement
The competitive selection process (CSP) will commence after approval has been secured from the Department of Energy (DoE).Out of the total, 500MW will cover the company’s mid-merit while the remaining 600MW will cover the baseload. Between the period from 2021 to 2030, Meralco expects peak demand to grow on an average by 4.1 per cent annually and demand will be influenced by how much renewable energy is added into the power grid.
