Sterlite Power has announced the acquisition of 64.98 per cent equity stake in Maharashtra Transmission Communication Infrastructure Limited (MTCIL). MTCIL is a public-private partnership for optical ground wire (OPGW) fibre networks operating on a BOOM model. MTCIL operates a fibre network of approximately 3,162 km across 35 co-locations, serving telcos, ISPs, and data centres in Maharashtra. Sterlite Power acquired the equity stake from Sterlite Technologies Limited. OPGW fibre networks offer reliable data delivery and assist in leveraging the existing power utility infrastructure for telecommunication purposes.
