Maharashtra government nod to Adani for 1,000-MW power line to boost Mumbai supply

The Maharashta government has given Adani Electrical Mumbai Infra Limited (AEMIL) permission for a 80km, 1,000MW underground transmission line between Aarey in Goregaon and Kudus in Thane’s Wada taluka under a 25-year build-own-operate licence.

The onus of compensation to owners of land acquired for substations at Aarey and Kudus will be on AEMIL. The project is expected to be completed by 2026, at an estimated cost of around Rs 70 billion. Maharashtra Electricity Regulatory Commission (MERC) had granted a licence to AEMIL in 2021 for the line.
