The Department of Energy (DoE) of the Philippines, under its green energy auction program (GEAP), is set to offer around 2,000 MW of renewable energy (RE) capacity projects on June 17, 2022.
This includes 1,260MW of solar for the Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao grids, 130 MW of hydropower capacities for the Luzon and Mindanao grids, 380MW of wind farm developments for the Luzon and Visayas grids and 230 MW of biomassfor the Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao grids. The winning bidder will be supplying RE under a 20-year contract. Delivery of contracted facilities will begin on December 26, 2022, and end on December 25, 2025. The RE capacities auctioned in this exercise are in line with the Government of Philippines’ Renewable Portfolio Standards (RPS).
