Power minister stresses on robust resettlement and rehabilitation to boost hydro projects

The union minister of power and new and renewable energy has stressed on the need for a robust resettlement and rehabilitation plan to boost the development of hydro power projects in the meeting of the Parliamentary Consultative Committeeattached to the Ministry of Power.

The agenda for the meeting was ‘The Need for Enhancing Hydro Capacity’. Hydel projects assume importance since it is a source of green and clean energy. The robust resettlement and rehabilitation plan would help in executing the projects.While outlining the challenges of implementing the hydel projects, the minister also emphasised on the need to take all stakeholders into confidence and that communication with the people affected will remain the key to success.
