Egco to increase generation capacity in Thailand by 1 GW

Electricity Generating Public Limited Company (Egco), an Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (Egat) subsidiary, has announced that it will increase its power generation capacity in Thailand by1GW and has allocated a budget of THB30 billion for 2022 to support the plan.

Out of the total capital spending earmarked for the year, THB24 billion will be used to support the agency’s capacity expansion, while the remaining THB6 billion will be used to develop new energy-related businesses. Egco will aim to increase its generation capacity to about 7 GW, from the current capacity of 5.9 GW,  generated by 30 power plants, both in operation and under development. The company is also working on several asset acquisitions deals, some of which are expected to be completed in the second half  of 2022.
