CIL’s production increases in April-May 2022 at 108 mt

Coal India Limited (CIL) has produced 108.2 million tonne (mt) of coal during April- May 2022, registering a year-on-year increase of 28.8 per cent from 84 mt produced during the same period of previous year.

The company’s output has increased from 42.1 mt in May 2021 to 54.7 mt in May 2022. CIL supplied 52.4 mt of coal to the power sector in May 2022, against 44.5 mt supplied in May 2021. During May 2022, CIL’s despatch to the power sector at an average of 1.69 mt per day was higher than the demand of 1.65 mt. CIL’s total offtake in May 2022 was 61.2 mt compared to 55 mt in the year-ago period, whereas the total offtake for April-May 2022 was at 118.7 mt against 109.2 mt in the year-ago period.
