Power System Operation Corporation Limited (POSOCO) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), with IMD agreeing to provide weather information to POSOCO across India for better management of the Indian Power System and for the purpose of analysis.
According to the MoU, IMD will provide POSOCO with weather information every hour or at shorter intervals. It will provide weather forecasts of temperature, humidity, wind speed, wind direction, rainfall up to next 36 hours for the identified stations. Additionally, it will provide snowfall forecasts of hilly states and also along the route of important transmission lines passing through hilly areas. Further, it will provide weather parameters forecast at renewable energy plant locations.
