Reportedly, the Assam government plans to set up a joint venture company with NLC India Limited to set up one GW of solar power in Assam.
A memorandum of understanding (MoU) will be signed with NLC India shortly. Government land has been allotted for the solar power project in Dima Hasao. The investment for the project has been estimated at Rs 50 billion. The project is being pursued to make Assam self-sufficient in energy.
