Prime Infra to develop 3.5 GW solar-plus-storage project in the Philippines

Prime Infrastructure Holdings Incorporated has announced plans to develop a 2.5 GW- 3.5 GW solar-plus-storage project in the Philippines.

The facility will include a battery energy storage system (BESS) with a capacity between 4,000 MWh and 4,500 MWh. The project will be executed by Terra Solar Philippines. The project has already secured a 20-year long-term power purchase agreement with Manila Electric Company (Meralco) for 850 MW of solar energy. According to the agreement, out of the total, 600 MW will be available by 2026, while the remaining 250 MW will be delivered in 2027. The 850 MW supply will be able to offset around 1.4 million tonnes of coal consumption, thereby reducing the Philippines’ carbon emissions and coal dependency.
